The International Institute for Security (MBI) in cooperation with the Department of Crime Prevention of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic organized the following workshop: New opportunities in situational crime prevention. The workshop was attended by a number of experts from the public and private sectors and, of course, experts from the MBI ranks. The workshop was primarily aimed at representatives of municipalities and municipal police for the purpose of education on the use of modern technologies in crime prevention and the possibilities of public support in the implementation of these technologies.

JUDr. JUDr. Michal Barbořík graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague and has been professionally involved in security issues for almost 20 years. He worked as a security advisor to the Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, since 2006 he has been involved in security and crime prevention at the Ministry of the Interior, where, in 2015, he became the head of the department dealing with crime prevention and since 2018 he has been the director of the Department of Crime Prevention. He cooperates with educational institutions, lectures on crime prevention at many conferences and educational events, and has published in a number of magazines. He has experience as an evaluator of European and security research projects, chairman of grant committees, and also worked as a member of the Council for Security Research Program. He is a member of a number of councils, committees, working groups, etc. in the field of crime prevention, security, criminal justice both within the Czech Republic and internationally.

Grant titles for crime prevention – Presentation of the grant title of Crime prevention program at the local level for 2022 and the Possibility of supporting the construction of urban camera surveillance systems.
Professionally, he has been involved in security and crime prevention since 1991. He worked for 16 years with the Police of the Czech Republic and 6 years with the Příbram Municipal Police, as a crime prevention manager at the local and regional level (Central Bohemian Region), he successfully implemented dozens of prevention projects in the field of situational and social prevention, cybercrime, informing citizens about the possibilities of protection against crime, etc.
From 2017 to 2019, he has been a member of the Advisory Council of the Minister of the Interior for the Protection of Soft Targets. Since 2019 he has been an employee of the Ministry of the Interior (Department of Crime Prevention) and is currently a member of the Advisory Council for Situational Prevention of the Ministry of the Interior.
JUDr. Tomáš Koníček, Independent Security Advisor
Development of Urban Camera Surveillance Systems (MKDS) since 1996 – History of the MKDS in the Czech Republic and experience gained during their construction.
JUDr. Throughout his professional career, JUDr. Tomáš Koníček has been involved in crime prevention, protection of property and persons, crisis situations and protection of soft targets in the state security forces (Ministry of the Interior and Police of the Czech Republic). He is a co-author of the nationwide Safe Location program. He chairs the Technical Standardization Committee of Crime Prevention and Population Protection of the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing. Together with other experts, he participates in the definition of standards in the field of crime prevention. He is the author and co-author of professional publications and methodologies in the field of security standards for dealing with crisis situations.

Effectiveness of crime prevention projects: Foreign experience – Presentation of experience and recommendations in the framework of crime prevention from selected countries (Netherlands, Canada, United States and Ireland)
Doc. Mgr. Doc. Mgr. Oldřich Krulík, Ph.D., graduated from Charles University and the Police Academy of the Czech Republic. In academic circles and state institutions, he focuses primarily on management, security policy and crime prevention. In the long term, he also deals with the fight against terrorism, measures against corruption, interstate police cooperation with an emphasis on its regional cross-border dimension and the removal of obstacles to the development of tourism. He participates in the organization of a number of domestic and foreign professional conferences devoted to various aspects of law enforcement. He is the author of dozens of scientific and popularizing texts, especially on the topic of internal security.

Current trends in security education – Educating the public and professionals within the concept of soft targets, education experience in France and new threats in the form of disinformation and cyberbullying.
Mgr. Petr Klíma has long been involved in security issues, promoting the necessity of permanent security education in all areas of society life. He holds the position of Chief Ministerial Counsellor of the Department of Crime Prevention of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. He also served in the Department of Security Research and Police Education. He proactively speaks at seminars and conferences focused on crime and terrorism prevention. He also passes on his experience as an external lecturer at the Faculty of Security and Law of the AMBIS University.

Ing. Ondřej Dolejš graduated from the Faculty of Military Leadership at the University of Defence in Brno in the field of security management. After graduation, he began working as a security specialist for the International Institute for Security. In this position, he mainly deals with the protection of critical infrastructure, population and soft targets and the European Union’s activities in the field of security. He is also involved in security research of the Czech Republic as a researcher of individual projects, especially in the field of population protection and critical infrastructure.
